Domestic Worker Contracts


Did you know that you are considered an Employer and your Domestic Worker is considered an employee?

Did you know that as an Employer it is your responsibility to comply with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act & Sectoral Determination 7 (Domestic Worker Sector)?

Did you know an employee who works more than 24 hours per month is automatically protected by minimum standards set out in the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

Did you know that the Domestic Worker Act pertains to any staff that work in your home, including au-pairs, nannies, gardeners, cooks and of course your domestic worker?

Did you know that by law working hours cannot be more than the 45 hours a week? That these hours can be split into nine hours a day for a five-day work week or eight hours a day for a six-day work week. Any additional hours are considered overtime thereafter.

Did you know, that by law you should be paying UIF for your Domestic Worker?
